Settling In

We offer three settling-in sessions for children to attend at nursery with their parents before they have their first day with us. This helps the children feel comfortable in the nursery environment, with the reassurance that their mummy or daddy is also there, encouraging them to explore the new setting and everything it has to offer.

Home visits also form an important part of our settling in/transition from home-to-setting process. They enable the practitioners to build up a profile of the child’s life before they start at nursery, an insight that cannot be gained as fully in any other way – this allows staff to know important facts about the child and their family lives. By Carol and the key person visiting a child at their home, children see the staff as friends – welcomed into their home environment by their parents – so begin to trust these new adults in their lives as family friends.

Even the most difficult of transitions have been eased by the settling-in method adopted here at Carol Jane Montessori Nursery.
